two pictures equals many questions

who doesn’t like old pictures? well, I like them and – to be honest – the less I know about photographed people, the more I enjoy watching. it’s so cool to imagine their stories, characters and circumstances that the pic was taken in. it may sound bit like a high school hobby, but still, it’s fun!

these two beneath we found some days ago on one of the flea markets and I love them so much! the nerdy looking guy and the fake dustin hoffman are just so intriguing – I mean what is the strange looking shop-window in a background? what are the boxes that they carry? in what country/city are they? are they a father and a son? an uncle and a nephew? and maybe they're just neighbours? who took the picture? does the young one play in a band (the sewer says he does)? if yes, what instrument?
the second one makes me laugh – it’s the coolest picture of a football game I have ever seen: there is hardly any action, players are strolling on the field, relaxed goalkeeper's calmly walking towards a ball and just a goal itself as a central piece. priceless. and again – who’s playing? who’s in a goal? who won? was the game worth watching?

any answers?

cheers!

ps. I’m kind of excited about the new bags that we’re preparing. it seems they are going to be my favourite so far!

Thursday

tralalala

oh, oh, these days are so blessed! center of belgrade feels like an inside of an oven, but this cannot spoil the fun, oh no! I’m so filled with plans and ideas and a need for a CHANGE. and I’m over the moon ‘cause in a few days I should hit the road heading to the north: friends, friends, friends, mum, dad, brother and a cat. and some new fabrics;)

it’s been kind of difficult summer down here, but there is one great thing about irresistably difficult periods – at some point you just get so much tired with it that the only thing that’s left is to sit and laugh and laugh and laugh. and move on like crazy!

the last few days I so much felt like visiting some flea markets, so yesterday and rushed to bajlonijeva pijaca market that happens to be nearby and it has a decent flea market part (recommendation!).
lately we’ve strangely developed a crush on old alarm clocks: no wonder the one from the picture beneath caught my eye – it’s so sweet, so 60s! I additionally found an old glass brooch and lovely, simple sunglasses. stay tuned, soon I’ll start posting some of my favourite lucky-lucky garbage discoveries and gains!

yesterday we also dropped three bags off to the new owners and it was such a fun to meet them. hello and thank you! today we’re gonna meet another one;)

hope you have a good day!

cheers!

Friday

watch your steps!

I took this picture maybe two weeks ago on buvljak flea market – it was late, sellers were already packing their articles and in that total chaos I found this great and absolutely accidental collage. a lady precisely cut from an old picture has just carelessly stepped into a milk puddle! no wonder, she was looking the other way…

well, one has to be careful and watch their steps – streets are full of strange traces, traps and combinations. would be shame to distroy or overlook any, would be shame to step into spilt milk!

stay focused, don’t get distracted!

cheers!

and this one beneath is a bit older - we found notes lying on the pavement at vatroslav lisinsinski street in belgrade and I tell ya it's an absolutely proper place for the notes to be! lisinski would be glad.
ice cream for everyone who knows what piece is there on the paper!

Monday

old burda magazines

flea markets do have the power!
since I’ve found a whole set of yugoslavian film magazines from the 60. and couldn’t have bought it (when low budget life changes into no budget life) I got this strange obsession of looking for old magazines on belgrade’s flea markets. yesterday on buvljak I dug patiently a pile of women’s magazines until I found some burdas from the middle 70s and the beginning of 80s. happy, happy me!

as soon as the student transforms back into a sewer we’re gonna make some vintage outfit. hell yes!

have a nice Monday!

lucky lucky garbage discoveries

do we like garbage? oh, yes, yes, we do!
no wonder than that when a few days ago I went out and saw an old couple leaving something next to a conteiner on our street the radar started working;) I found a shoe box full of old postcards from all over europe sent in the 60s and early 70s. adressed to a grandmother. absolutely gorgeous and well kept! many black and white pictures, some colour filtered – like the one on the pic beneath.
I love postcards and it’s so sad that so few people these days actually send them - and if you don’t send your postcards because you can never find your way to the post office to get some stamps, there’s the tip: when you send a card from a big europen city just write what you want to write and put it into a post box. it will find its way even without a stamp! my lousy-budget journeys made me check on it and I can tell there is 100% effectiveness until now. this is how the post guys exchange reliable people for faster machines…
but pssst, it’s ain’t legal to say it loud…
a little confession: I was always into second hand things, but the first time I got really fascinated with garbage was a few years ago when we hitch-hiked to spain. the old red leather suitcase next to a dustbin in barcelona was really beautiful and easy to resotore. unfortunatelly, also too big and uncomfortable to drag it through the whole europe for another couple of weeks. happily I managed to collect some of the lego stuff – a lego cook, lego tree, a lego street and a lego car. I dreamt about it when I was a child, but it was too expensive at that time. then I got it for free;)
and now some good news - the bombona sewer is coming back from his exams-exile! congratulations, congratulations! today we've celebrated it with an exquisite choco-banana cake;) shall put a recipe here soon - it's really worth it!

and some announcement for the gdansk -today (saturday) our bags are HERE.

cheers!

the last thing. before christmas I used some of the postcards we found on a flea market to make season cards – I really enjoyed the idea of changing a postcard sent from holidays about 40 years ago into a christmas card that I could use now. objects travelling in time and space - isn't this great:)
