stitch your grandma's photo...

after such a long break the blog and its dear readers deserve something insanely good – ladies and gentelmen, may I introduce you to an artist I’ve been recently madly in love (loud sound of fanfares): maurizio anzeri.
his mixed media embroideries are amazing. the technique he’s using – stitching old photos and prints – is defenitely interesting (though maybe not revolutionary), but the way he does it is just amazing. graphic lines of threads over old portraits give me the creepy feeling each time I look at it. I still cannot get bored with it and cannot stay calm about it. the combination that makes transformation, the transformation that cause radicalization.
a little warning: when I watch his works a strange fear of deformed faces as a special side effect appears…

I’m always excited about works with ‘found objects’ (the art scene doesn’t really like a word ‘garbage’) and this is defenitelly one of the reasons of my fascination with anzeri’s ‘photo-sculptures’. nevertheless, I hope you’ll find him just as scary and beautiful as I did.
enjoy!

cheers!

tacno ana! meni se cini da mnogo ljudi uzima lepotu za umetnost i hoce da i umetnost bude samo lepa (sto je naravno mnogo silly:)).
